Production Successes

The successes of our production were that we managed to film in the venue we originally planned, and that we got all the shots in one sitting. (despite the fact that we had to film a second time for just one short shot.)

Production obstacles

Production Obstacles: The Main problem i'd say is that we realised we had to film again after we had already filmed because we had forgotten to take a shot of jamie turning around and yelling.

A few other problems that we encountered were that we didn't have enough actors when we supposed to film. so we got actors live and direct, we got three actors from our sixth form common room. these weren't major problems but it did set us back a little.

Film synopsis;

in the opening we are going to have a series of random clips that doesn't really make sense. this is going to build suspense. we will have kitty and her younger brother rory the first killers. we will film in the school. every time kitty and or her brother rory kill someone they have the same mask as them and they start killing people too. so the killers are multiplying. We are hoping to mix both the thriller and the horror genre by basing the movie at night with lots of shadows and mystery. The killers will be wearing completely dark clothes and pale white masks that will give them a spooky aura. To make it a thriller the opening will be broken up by the credits which will be intrusive ensuring the viewer only sees snapshots of what is going on. it will be erriely atmospheric. we will have quick cuts and very unnatural noises.

3.1 what i learnt by doing the preliminary exercise

in my preliminary exercise we had two actors and a camera man during the filming of it. Loukas and Kitty were actors in my group and i was the camera man.

the first time we filmed, we filmed in the school's tv studio. we had filmed in a german expressionism style with dramatic lighting and in a distorted set. we had lighting behind the actors to give a silhouette look, this was dramatic and very eerie. we proceeded to film with POV shots and worm eye shots ect*. our film was done and ready to edit until we found that the lighting was too dark and the actors were extremely hard to see.

We then filmed a second time in the tv studio and got everything done in better quality.

during the filming i learnt, as the camera man, that lighting and timing is crucial for a good shot. and that playing back what you've just recorded would definitely save time if you've made a mistake, overall i think as a group we were pretty successful.
